On May 3, 2012, Chinese Consul General Xu Erwen met with Mayor Mitch Landrieu of New Orleans during her visit to the State of Louisiana. Ms. Brooke Smith, Director of Strategic Partnerships of NOLA, Ms. Aimee Quirk, Mayor's advisor for Economic Development, and Consul Cai Lian, Consul Zhou Yujiang were present.

Consul General Xu briefed Mayor Landrieu on the latest development of China-US relationship as well as the bilateral economic and trade cooperation. She pointed out that the current relationship is in the new stage of development and the two countries are facing huge potential and bright future of cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, culture and tourism. She spoke highly of the robust cultural economy of the City of New Orleans, stressing that China is ready to join hands with the US side including the City of New Orleans in exploring new way of strengthening friendly cooperation.

Mayor Landrieu said that China is an important partner of the US and maintaining good relationship between the two countries is beneficial to both sides. He is glad to see that New Orleans has been conducting fruitful cooperation with China in trade, tourism and education in recent years, and is looking forward to more Chinese investments in New Orleans. Mayor Landrieu also thanked Consul General Xu for her presence at the World Cultural Economic Forum held in New Orleans.
