On August 29, Consul General Gao Yanping visited the friendship ambassadors from China - Chinese giant pandas Lun Lun, Yang Yang and Xi Lan. Consul Wang Peijun of the Chinese Consulate General and Board Director of the Atlanta Zoo Mr. Michael Anderson were present.

The keeper of the giant pandas told Consul General Gao excitedly that Lun Lun, Yang Yang and the crystal of their love - Mei Lan and Xi Lan are the witnesses of the China-U.S. friendship. They are deeply loved by the American people.

Lun Lun and Yang Yang were born in 1997. They were sent to Zoo Atlanta to live in the United States on November 5, 1999. On September 6, 2006, Lun Lun gave birth to Mei Lan. On August 30, 2008, she gave birth to Xi Lan. Mei Lan returned to hometown Chengdu, China in February 2010.
