On January 6, Consul General Gao Yanping met with U.S. Congressman Al Green. They exchanged views on a series of important topics including China-U.S. relations, climate change, economic situation, scientific, cultural and educational cooperation. Deputy Consul General Yu Boren, Zhou Ding, Ms. Cynthia Buggage, Green’s District Director, Ms. Alice Chen, Green's Outreach Liaison attended the meeting.

Consul General Gao stressed that China and the United States have common interests in a series of important issues and broad prospect of cooperation in many areas. A positive, cooperative and comprehensive China-U.S. relationship is not only conducive to dealing with common challenges of the mankind, but also helpful in creating more trade, investment and job opportunities, bringing tangible benefits for the two peoples. Consul General Gao encouraged Congressman Green to play a more positive role in promoting exchanges and cooperation between China and the U.S., China and Texas.

Mr. Green expressed his satisfaction towards the good momentum of China-U.S. relations. He agreed that China and the U.S. have great common interests. He hoped the two sides can strengthen consensus, deepen cooperation and jointly fight against challenges as climate change, terrorism, financial crisis,nuclear proliferation, and etc.
