On December 15, Consul General Gao Yanping met with Texas Secretary of State Esperanza "Hope" Andrade in Austin, Texas.
Consul General Gao said, the Chinese government has adopted effective measures under the global economic downturn to maintain a stable and relatively fast economic growth. The 8% growth of GDP this year is to be achieved without any doubt. China and Texas have solid foundation and bright future on economic, cultural, educational, scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation. The Chinese Consulate General in Houston is ready to work closely with the Texas Government to push bilateral exchanges and cooperation to a higher stage.

Secretary Andrade said, the economy of China and Texas are highly complementary. The people of Texas have enjoyed tangible benefit from exchanges and cooperation between China and Texas. Therefore, aspirations to a better relation between the people from both sides have grown dramatically. Texas enjoys fairly economic growth at present and wishes to make good use of its traditional advantages as well as the newly-emerged ones. Further enhancement of exchanges and cooperation between China and Texas will undoubtedly bring more benefit to the people of Texas and China.
