Consul General Gao Yanping Meets with Mayor of the city of San Antonio, Julian Castro

On October 18, 2009, Chinese Consul General in Houston Gao Yanping met with Mayor of the City of San Antonio, Julian Castro at the City Hall.

Castro welcomed Gao assumed her office as Chinese Consul General in Houston. Castro said the city of San Antonio attached great importance to the development of the friendly and cooperative relations with China. He would like to find a Chinese city as the sister city of San Antonio. He sincerely hoped that the sister city relationship could provide a platform to further promote the exchanges and cooperation between two sides. He was looking forward to lead a delegation to participate in the Shanghai World Expo and conduct a promotion of “The Day of San Antonio” .

Consul General Gao congratulated Mayor Castro for winning the election in the past May. Gao was willing to facilitate setting up a sister city relationship between San Antonio and a suitable city in China at an early time. She welcomed Castro to lead a delegation to take part in Shanghai World Expo and hold “The Day of San Antonio”. Gao said that the diversified economy of San Antonio provided more opportunities for the cooperation with China. She is looking forward to working hard with the city of San Antonio to achieve mutual benefits.

After the meeting, Gao and Carlos attended the welcome reception for the visiting delegation from Counselor’s office of the State Council of China.
