On October 6, 2009, Chinese Consul General in Houston Gao Yanping met with Mr. Dave Woodward, Chairman of Florida-China Association.

Gao appraised Florida-China Association for its positive role in promoting the mutual understanding between China and Florida. She said that the cooperation between China and Florida are getting more frequent and more fruitful. She hoped the Florida-China Association will continue to bridge the friendly exchanges between China and Florida and thus to bring more substantial benefits to the two sides.

Mr. Woodward welcomed Gao to assume her post as Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Houston. He briefed about the job Florida-China Association had done to promote the exchanges between Florida and China, such as bringing Florida delegations to China, receiving Chinese delegations visiting Florida and holding Sino-U.S. Relations Forum. He hoped that he would lead another delegation to China within this year. He is willing to work on a Florida delegation to participate in the Shanghai Word Expo. next year so to strengthen friendship and cooperation between Florida and China.
