Consul General Gao Yanping meets President of Rice University

Gao Yanping, newly arrived Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Houston, met with Dr. David Leebron, President of Rice University and Fudan University delegation headed by Qin Shaode, Chancellor of the University on September 23, in order to promote “strength-strength” cooperation between Chinese and American universities . They exchanged views in a friendly atmosphere.

Rice University is a prestigious private university of high quality teaching and research, known as “the Harvard in the South”. In recent years, Rice University has accelerated its pace in educational cooperation and exchanges with key universities in China, and has established cooperative programs with Qinghua and Nankai Universities. The number of Chinese students at Rice University has been increased year by year.

Consul General Gao Yanping told President Leebron and Chancellor Qin Shaode that, educational cooperation between China and United States is an important part of concrete cooperation of the two countries, the Chinese Consulate General in Houston will offer full support to the exchanges and cooperation between the two universities. She wishes the “strength-strength” cooperation and the mutual “win-win relations” will benefit our two peoples. Dr. Yan Guohua, Consul and Direction for Education and Education consul Wei Liqing attended the meeting.
