Deputy Consul General Yu Boren Attend the Grand Opening of Confucius Institute at Kennesaw State University

On August 17, 2009 Deputy Consul General Yu Boren attended the Grand Opening of the Confucius Institute jointly established by Kennesaw State University in the United States and Yangzhou University in China and made a speech. Yu extended his warm congratulation to the successful establishment of the Confucius Institute in the name of the Chinese Consulate General in Houston. He said that Confucius Institute is the bridge promoting Sino-US educational and cultural exchanges, the platform encouraging American people to learn Chinese language and culture and the network enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between American people and Chinese people. Confucius Institute at KSU marks the good beginning of friendly cooperation between KSU and Yangzhou University. He hopes that the Confucius Institute at KSU will become the center for the people at Atlanta area and neighboring states to learn and promote Chinese culture as well as friendly relations between our two countries through our joint efforts. Dr. Daniel Papp, President of KSU, Dr. Chen Zhanglong, Chairman of University Council and representatives from the State of Georgia and the City of Atlanta attended the opening. Dr. Yan Guohua, Consul for education and Consul Wei Liqing escorted Yu's related activities in Atlanta.

While he was in Atlanta, Deputy Consul General Yu also met with Mr. John Eave, Chairman of Board of Commissioners of Foulton County and , Mayor of Sandy Spring. They exchanged views on the future of bilateral relations and cooperation.
