1.Chinese Bridge for American Schools

A project aiming at American principals and educators who have already established or are thinking of opening Chinese programs at their schools, enhancing their understanding of the Chinese education system, promoting school cooperation and providing Chinese program resources. The trip is generally a week long. Delegates visit local schools in Beijing and other provinces/cities to exchange ideas with the Chinese teachers and students and establish partnerships with Chinese schools.

Confucius Institute Headquarters sponsor food, accommodation and transportation in China, while the delegates pay for their own international travel expense. Interested applicant can apply through the College Board.

2. Chinese Bridge Summer Camp for American students

Chinese Bridge Summer Camp provides students with Chinese language and culture classes (such as paper cutting, calligraphy, ink and wash painting, tea ceremony and martial arts), rich and varied activities (get together with Chinese students, home stay experiences, etc.) and visits to cultural heritages.

Confucius Institute Headquarters sponsor food, accommodation and transportation in China, while the campers pay for their own international travel expense.

Regular public or private high school students, who have basic level of Chinese, between the ages of 15 to 18, healthy for international travel can apply through the Confucius Institutes in US or the Chinese embassy/consulates in US.

3. Confucius China Studies Program

I. Joint Ph.D. Fellowship

Sponsor doctoral students registered at American universities to study, research or write doctoral dissertation in China (6 months to 2 years), covering tuition, lodging and living stipend, research fund and international airfare, as well as academic travelling expense for the student’s supervisor to China, etc.

II. Ph.D. in China Fellowship

Sponsor international students to pursue full-time Ph.D. degrees in top Chinese universities (3 to 4 years), covering tuition, lodging and living stipend, research fund and international airfare, etc.

III. Young Leaders Fellowship

Sponsor outstanding youths of different fields (qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or above holding a professional position, being a team leader; Or a senior college student or post-graduate student, holding a leading position in student association) to have study tours in China (2 weeks to 6 months), covering accommodation and travel expenses in China and international airfare, etc.

IV. “Understanding China” Fellowship

l Visiting Scholars to China

Sponsor International assistant professor and above to undertake joint research in top Chinese universities (2 weeks to 6 months), covering stipend, international airfare, etc.

l Short-term Study or Research Tour in China

Sponsor senior officials of different fields to take study tour or short-term research in China (2 weeks to 6 months), covering accommodation and travel expenses in China, international airfare, etc.

Applicants of Ph.D. programs can apply through the online application system from every September to next February. Applicants of other programs can submit applications to Confucius Institute Headquarters 4 to 6 months before the estimated start date of their projects.

China-US Young Maker Competition has been successfully organized four times by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China since 2014, attracting many young people in both countries to participate. It enriches the ways of exchange and adds highlights to China-US People-to-People Exchange. The Achievements of the past four competitions have been included in the outcome lists of the Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Round of China-US High-Level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange and the First Round of China-US Social and People-to-People Exchange. During President of the United State Trump’s state visit to China on 2017, President Xi Jinping and President Trump agreed that ‘the two sides will support the holding of the China-US Young Maker Competition annually’.

There were two stages of China-US Young Maker Competition, regional selection contests and final contest. Six winner teams from each regional selection contest will join the final contest in the Millennium Monument in Beijing. Till 2017, the competition has consisted of the Chinese Regional Selection Contests and the US Regional Selection Contest. ( ten regional selection contests including Chengdu, Beijing, Tianjin, Wenzhou, Nanjing, Xiamen, Shenzhen, Haikou, Xi’an, Shanghai)

China-US Young Maker Competition focuses on the areas of community development, education, environmental protection, health& fitness, energy, transportation and other areas of sustainable development by combining innovative design and cutting-edge technology. It encourages young people of both China and the United States to make new products and applications bearing social and industrial values, which will fundamentally strengthen cultural exchange between the two nations.

4. Zhi-Xing China Programs

Supported by the Chinese Ministry of Education, China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) initiated and administered Zhi-Xing China Programs, which adhere to the core philosophy of Understanding, Action and Unity. Through high-level lectures and people-to-people interactions, the Programs provide valuable opportunities for both Chinese and the American people to deepen mutual understanding, cultivate respect and trust, and lay a solid social foundation for win-win cooperation between the two countries. Currently, there are three comprising programs within the Programs framework, namely, Zhi-Xing China Fellowships Program, Academic Impact Program and University Student Leaders Academy Program, all of which are among the exemplary programs within the China-U.S. People-to-People Exchange.
