Facts and figures about China quake and relief

    BEIJING, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Following are the latest facts and figures about the massive 8.0-magnitude earthquake that rocked southwest China's Sichuan Province on May 12:

    -- The death toll from the quake rose to 51,151 nationwide as of 10 a.m. Thursday, while 288,431 people were injured and 29,328 people were missing.

    -- As of Thursday noon, domestic and foreign donations had reached 21.4 billion yuan (3 billion U.S. dollars), up 5.4 billion yuan overnight. And 1.9 billion yuan had been forwarded to the earthquake-affected areas.

    -- A total of 403,340 tents, 2.3 million cotton-padded quilts and 3.05 million articles of clothing had been sent to the survivors, and 384,000 tonnes of wheat and rice were being sent tothe region.

    -- The government disaster relief fund for the affected areas reached 13.975 billion yuan as of 2 p.m. Thursday, up about 1.1 billion yuan from the previous day. The total included 10.295 billion yuan from the central budget and 3.68 billion yuan from local budgets.

    -- A total of 3,444 people injured in the quake had died in hospitals as of Thursday noon.

    -- As of 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, the United Kingdom, the United States and the UN Refugee Agency had provided more than 150,000 tents to provide temporary shelters for those left homeless.
