Consul General Xu Erwen meets with U.S. Congressman Boustany

On May 2, 2012, Consul General Xu Erwen met with US Congressman Charles Boustany of Louisiana, in the City of Lafayette, Louisiana. Mr. Hare, Deputy District Director for the Congressman, Consul Cai Lian and Consul Zhou Yujiang from the Chinese Consulate were present.

Consul General Xu applauded Congressman Boustany for his longtime support of China-US relations and China-US legislatures’ exchanges. She expressed her delight to meet Congressman Boustany in his hometown. She exchanged views with the Congressman on how to further promote bilateral communication and cooperation at all government levels and in all areas, so as to help sustain a long-term sound and stable development of China-US relationship.

Congressman Boustany welcomed Consul General Xu to his hometown and recalled the pleasant memories of his multiple visits to China, noting in particular, China’s rich culture, robust economy and hospitable people. Congressman Boustany said that US-China relationship is one of the most crucial relationships in the 21st century. It is important that the two countries continue their dialogues at all possible levels and cooperation in all possible fields, so that they could work together to maintain world peace and stability, keep an open and free international trade regime, and help sustain global prosperity.

Consul General Xu also exchanged views with Congressman Boustany on other topics of their common interest.
