Chinese Consulate General in Houston and Chinese Business Association of Atlanta Co-host a Show Celebrating China-U.S. Friendship

On January 16, the Chinese Consulate General in Houston and the Chinese Business Association of Atlanta co-hosted a show celebrating China-U.S. Friendship in the Symphony Hall of the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta. The Deputy Consul General Zhang Chuanbing, the Attorney General of Georgia Samuel Olens, the Commissioner of Georgia Department of Economic Development Chris Cummingskey and more than 1200 other dignitaries, local Chinese Community leaders were present.

The Deputy Consul General Zhang Chuanbing pointed out in his welcoming address that Chinese President Hu Jintao will visit the U.S. next week. This visit is of profound significance which will lift the positive, cooperative, and comprehensive China-U.S. relationship to a new level and will strongly advance the friendly cooperation between China and Atlanta. On the eve of President Hu’s visit, tonight’s show embodies the friendly feelings shown by the Chinese people towards the American people. It will also enhance the understanding of China by the American public and deepen the mutual friendship. Attorney General Samuel Olens recalled his pleasant visit to China and stressed that the maintenance of friendly relations between China and the U.S. is vital to the development of both countries as well as to the world’s peace and stability. He also expressed his willingness to make efforts to promote China-U.S. friendship, especially to facilitate exchanges and cooperation between Georgia and China.

Chinese performers together with local artists put on a wonderful show in which Chinese folk dance, classic songs, acrobatics and traditional instruments were staged.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Duowei Times, World Journal and other major local English and Chinese media covered and reported this show.

As the last stop, tonight’s show also brought a successful end to the 10 days’ long “China-U.S Friendship” series performance co-hosted by the Chinese Consulate General in Houston and relevant local government and organizations.
