Consul General Gao Yanping Attends the Promotion Conference of the 107th China Import and Export Fair

On February 1, Consul General Gao Yanping Attended the Promotion Conference of the 107th China Import and Export Fair and delivered a keynote speech, accompanied by Mr. Yao Wenliang, head of Economic and Trade Section of the Consulate General.  More than 120 people, including representative of Governor of Texas James Chen, representative of Mayor of Houston Terence O'Neill, 6 presidents of Chambers of Commerce in Houston were present. Consul General Gao was awarded Honored Membership Certificates by Asian Chamber of Commerce and Houston Intercontinental Chamber of Commerce.

  

  

 

Consul General Gao said, China and the United States have become each other's second largest trading partner. The China-US trade volume was near 4 hundred billion USD in 2008. China Import and Export Fair, renowned as "Canton Fair", is an important channel and a key window of China's foreign trade, playing a key role in promoting the development of China's foreign trade and economic communication. During the 106th session of the Canton Fair, which just successfully concluded on Nov. 4, 2009, there were nearly nineteen hundred thousand foreign businessmen from 212 countries and regions attending the Fair. She hoped the Canton Fair would continue to build a bridge of friendship and cooperation between China and other countries in the future and highlight a splendid chapter in the China-US trade and economic relationship.

 

Consul General Gao met with the delegation of the Canton Fair.
