Consul General Gao Yanping Meets With Mr. Joel Bartsch,President of the Houston Museum of Natural Science

  On October 14th, 2009, Consul General Gao Yanping met with Mr. Joel Bartsch, President of the Houston Museum of Natural Science (HMNS). They had a constructive discussion on cultural exchanges between the two countries.  

  Gao expressed warm congratulations on the success of the Exhibition of Terra Cotta Warriors co-organized by HMNS and Cultural Relics Bureau of Shaanxi Province. Gao pointed out that China enjoys a reputation of long history and profound culture, of which Terra Cotta Warriors of the Qin Dynasty is an important and splendid part. The success of the Exhibition deepened the cultural dialogue between China and the U.S., facilitated the further understanding of the long history and splendid culture of China. It is a bridge of friendship between China and the U.S., strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two peoples. She extended her wish that HMNS would continue the cooperation with museums in China and contribute to the healthy and stable development of cultural relations between China and the U.S.  

  Mr. Bartsch welcomed Gao for assuming her post as the Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Houston and appreciated the efforts of the Chinese Consulate in promoting the exhibition of the Terra Cotta Warriors and other exhibitions from China. He said that the Exhibition of Terra Cotta Warriors provided an excellent opportunity for him and the people of Houston. He stressed the Exhibition is the most successful one in the history of the Museum, which has over 200,000 visitors so far. Visitors will rush to the museum this final weekend that the museum will open around the clock.  

     Accompanied by Madam Lisa Rebori, Gao took a tour of the museum, including the Exhibitions of Terra Cotta Warriors and other masterpieces.
